Similarities between the Picture House and theme parks in Disneyland Essay
Similarities between the Picture House and theme parks in Disneyland - Essay Example The only answer would be that until then we were confined to having pictures painted, but the possibility of seeing our pictures on paper as though they were real, enthralled people. The advent of the motion picture further popularized this cause. With the creation of movies, people who watched them began to feel that they were integral entities in the movie so much so that if there were an emotional scene, then most would be in tears, or if there were any action, one could see people emulating their favorite actors and sometimes would end up punching the fellow next to them accidentally. People began to sense their lives in the movie's story and this is the prime reason as to why people loved to throng the picture house. Pictures were beginning to be made on all sorts of subjects, from comedy to tragedy; from history to mystery; from morals to quarrels etc. Within due course of time, movies had extended such an influence over the public that everyone wanted to emulate his personal hero, for whom he was god (the actors in this case). We like to develop ourselves into looking and behave like our heroes. Cinemas became symbols of economic prosperity, and people felt proud of its stature.

Essay --
Mexican Independence ( Rough draft ) Have you ever thought of something you're so curious about? Something that your curiosity runs completely insane because you need the full information or a full story about what really happened or how did it happen ? Well I did, When a research paper was assigned about Spanish Culture I was only Interested into one topic and thats the History or background oh how the Mexican People receive their Independence. Like how America had itââ¬â¢s own story of its independence. Independence is about Freedom, the freedom to do what you want or to be who you are. Well like any other culture independence was very important to the spanish people, I believe its a celebration way bigger than an event like Cinco De Mayo. I believe itââ¬â¢s one of the most important events for the spanish people, and hereââ¬â¢s why! During the early nineteenth century , Mexico was slightly influence by the country U.S and France as they seek for their Independence. They began to plan or thought about a rebellion against spain. One of the famous people involve in this event was Father Miguel Hidalgo who was from Dolores, Mexico . Father Hidalgo was one of the main leaders in the rallying group of people seeking for Independence against Spain. As time passes by Hidalgo and his people during the year 1810 of late fall Hidalgo and his people were already planning a revolt against spain. The Spanish people found out about the revolt which led the Spanish Government to order the arrest of Hidalgo and his officers. When Hidalgo found out, he called a meeting at his church. He rang the church bell on the night of September 15, 1810 to call his congregation to mass. Here Father Hidalgo rallied the people to fight. He gave the speec... ...ime all across Mexico. While the crowd says this they fill the air with confetti, streamers and hoopla. Castillos explode in showers of red, white, and green. The actual day of September 16 is similar to July Fourth in the US. There are rodeos, parades, bullfights, horseback rider performances and grand feasts. The statues in memory of Father Hidalgo are decorated with red, white, and green flowers. The Mexican Flag is made up of green, white, and red. The green is on the left side of the flag and symbolizes independence. White is the color in the middle of the flag and symbolizes religion. The red is on the right side of the flag and symbolizes union. These colors are used often in decorating for the Mexican Independence Day fiesta. September 16 is a very remarkable day for the spanish tribe itââ¬â¢s because itââ¬â¢s the day they receive their freedom from spain.

Contractors in the Military Essay
Going back in time to the Civil War, private contractors can be found, providing support, logistics, and supplies to the military forces. If you think about todayââ¬â¢s military bases and approaching the front gate that do you see? Well the first person you see is a private security guard standing there waiting to welcome you to fort whatever. Why donââ¬â¢t you see a Military Police Officer standing there? Simple question right, well it isnââ¬â¢t because the Military is going more and more towards a civilian work force. What does going to basically civilian work force do for those men and women that serve in the United States Military today? Is the government really making the right choice by continuing to use private contractors back home and abroad in war zones today? That is where this paper is going to search out the causes and effects of the use of private contractors or civilian work force in todayââ¬â¢s Military. Todayââ¬â¢s Military bases are flooded with civil ian workforce working for the government as private contractors. The Government today is looking for anyway to cut Military budget and save money. But is using the civilian workforce saving money? Well letââ¬â¢s talk about those security guards at the front gate, letââ¬â¢s say the guard is between a GS 1-3 the average salary for them are seventeen thousand to twenty eight thousand a year. Now look at an Army Military Police Officer e-1 through e-3 which is equivalent to the GS 1-3 the salary for that e-1 through e-3 is between seventeen thousand to twenty thousand dollars a year. So from that little comparison using a private workforce really isnââ¬â¢t saving anyone any money. Let me remind you that doesnââ¬â¢t include years in service. Because more time in the GS ranks you make more money faster. But for that enlisted soldier his money caps after so many years. But everywhere you go you see more and more civilian workforce so there must be a positive side to having civilians work alongside with the Military agencies. Having private contractors work alongside with the Military can take some stress off of units that are deployed down range in combat zones. Those units can focus on their missions at hand and can rely on logistical support and personnel support from basically private security forces downrange. ââ¬Å"For the State Department, armed contractors likewise perform a variety of security tasksâ⬠(Isenberg 2009). In comparison to past conflicts the United States was involved in like Gulf War one in which the ratio was one contractor to fifty eight service men. Now letââ¬â¢s jump to the Bosnia conflict where the ration jumped to one to fifth teen. Then you look at Iraq War which the ratio dropped to one to six. So the use of the contractor is becoming more evident in armed conflict zones. So many jobs that the Military gives to the private sector are specific jobs or a ââ¬Å"valuable skillâ⬠that is a specific task. So by giving those specific jobs to contractors in war zones al lows the military to provide sustainment abilities on forward bases. ââ¬Å"Then you have to look at the bad side of those private contractors, with the likes of Black Water, and Triple Canopyâ⬠(Cotton 2010). Those two companies have been involved in many altercations that put a bad taste in peopleââ¬â¢s mouth about private companies working in war zones. Each company did many things that caused a lot of crisis for fellow service members while they were deployed in hostile places. These companies go to do a job get paid more by our United States Government then goes and does hostile acts against the other country, that puts many other people not just service members in harm way. So why should the DOD pay people like this? Well that is just the great debate. So with the government in war still in Afghanistan, why do we continue to rely on so many private companies, well that is because of those vital assets those people offer. So if the government would put a little more faith in the Military Services we have and train. We could start working on the costs of what is spent while we are at war. Even though it would be great to limit the use of contractors, the use of the contractors just needs to be limited in certain ways. Keep using the ones that are needed to assist in logistical support and aid in missions to assist. Try and stop the use of the ones in war zones running missions could improve on the government spending, let those people that serve in the Military keep running those missions, because that is what enlisted do serve our country. The Impact Of Usda Revisions On Food Packages On...
Introduction In this article, the main objective was to observe the impact of USDA revisions on its Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) concerning food packages on nutritional behavior and obesity among children who are 0- to 4-years old mostly residing at the New York State (NYS) WIC program. In January 2009, the NYS was the first to implement such revisions thereby adding fruits, whole grains, and vegetables to the diet. Whole milk was replaced with low or 1% fat in nonfat milk given to children from ages 2- to 4-years old. Children were enrolled in the NYS WIC program from July 1, 2008 and December 31, 2011 (Chiasson et al., 2013, p. 1423). Main Points The WIC program was initiallyâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Parents and caregivers were asked about behavioral outcomes during certification and recertification visits. Critical Analysis The article itself fairly discusses the effects of the revised WIC guidelines on malnutrition among children. As a whole, the content and subheadings are organized in a way that the reader expects the experiment to be. Its abstract is in an outlined description form where each of the parts is explained with the corresponding content as expected by the reader. The list of references is also credible where the authors combined books, journals, and online resources as well. Government agencies are also listed in the references pages to confirm the credibility of this study. In general, the article is well-researched and its utilization of statistics to measure the results of its data is done efficiently. Personal Impression I am attracted to reading and creating my journal critique for this article because it is timely and the organization of its contents is impressive as well. The way authors have expressed their concerns over the revisions of the WIC program among children malnutrition was well depicted in this journal since they have not only based their results and evidences on the policy guidelines but also the behavioral implications of the program among parents and caregivers as well. This puts the study in its holistic approach

On the other hand, there was one difference between Antigoneââ¬â¢s character and her fatherââ¬â¢s character. Antigone tried to achieve what godsââ¬â¢ state, by burying her dead brother: Antigone talks to her sister Ismene about her decision to bury her dead brother, ââ¬Å"if you like, / can cast dishonor on what the gods have honoredâ⬠(88-9). Analysis Of Tartuffe And Punishment By...
Throughout the times of the late 1600ââ¬â¢s all the way up to the 1900ââ¬â¢s, we have seen many ways how genders have been viewed towards the eyes of society. From taking care of their families to actually working, males and females had different gender statuses in the things they did and participated in. The different roles, perceptions and misperceptions that each gender role-played had a big influence in structuring a particular society and managing how things were being run. In the short play Tartuffe, by Jean-Baptiste Moliere and ââ¬Å"Punishmentâ⬠, by Rabindranath Tagore, we really see how males and females were distinguished; and how each of them were viewed, treated and played into a particular society. Orgon and Mariane from Jean-Baptiste Moliere and Dukhiram and Radha from Punishment are characters that played tremendous roles in their parts, which really showed the perception of the power of the man and the lack of respect a female had during those times. The s hort play Tartuffe is a play filled with lots of drama, which consists many arguments and disputes between the characters about many different scenarios.
